Slovenia

Izola is an old fishing town in southwestern Slovenia on the Adriatic coast of the Istrian peninsula. It is the seat of the Municipality of Izola. Its name originates from ItalianIsola, which means ‘island’.

In addition to the municipal seat of Izola, the municipality also includes the following settlements: Baredi, Cetore, Dobrava, Jagodje, Korte, Malija, Nožed, Šared

Župan/Mayor

Magister turizma Danilo Markočič je rojen 5. avgusta 1956 in že od rojstva živi v Izoli za katero pravi, da je najlepše mesto na Mediteranu. Je poročen, oče dveh otrok in trikrat nono. Tako zasebno kot v poslovnem življenju ceni dialog in potrpežljivo doseganje kompromisov, hkrati pa je človek akcije in odličen organizator.
