The Latvian Museums Association (LMA) is a non-government organization uniting 120 state, municipal, private and autonomous museums on a voluntary basis, for the implementation of common objectives and the protection of mutual interests.
The LMA’s objectives are to become an important platform for information, professional development and inspiration, to strengthen and unify Latvia’s museum sector, increase its self-assurance and capacity to act, improve the image of Latvia’s museums in the wider community and internationally, and represent museum interests at the national level.
The LMA has been steadfastly working on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals for more than a year – in the day-to-day operations of museums, in work with collections, visitors, research, etc., presenting a number of educational events explaining the implementation of the SDGs in Latvian museums.
